Allerta® is used for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, runny, itchy nose, itchy and watery eyes, and skin symptoms of allergy such as itch and rash.
An allergy refers to an exaggerated reaction by our immune system in response to exposure to certain triggers which are normally seen by the body as harmless to other people.
Allerta® should be taken orally once a day or as prescribed by your doctor.
Allergy triggers are called allergens. Some of the respiratory and skin allergy triggers are:
- Dust
- Smoke
- Pollution
- Molds
- Animal fur/dander
- Changes in weather
- Bee sting
- Strong smells
- Food like peanuts and shellfish
- Medicines
- Detergent
- Latex
- Cockroaches
- Select metals
Allerta® Tablet is PHP 23.25 (SRP).
Symptoms of allergy may include and not be limited to the following:
- whistling or wheezing sound in the chest
- shortness of breath not related to exercise or physical activity
- regular sneezing/sneezing often
- clear watery nasal discharge
- blocked/clogged nose
- recurring cough especially at night or morning
- itchy nose
- cough/colds caused by a particular situation inhalant/food allergen
What anti-histamine can be taken by adults or children? We have the Allerta® tablet for adults, and Allerkid® which is recommended for children.
Undesirable effects with Loratadine (Allerta®) are rare and occur only at high doses and are usually temporary and mild in severity.
The most common undesirable effects include headache, drowsiness, fatigue (excessive tiredness), insomnia (sleeplessness), nervousness, hyperkinesia (hyperactivity), malaise (feeling of bodily discomfort), wheezing, upper respiratory tract infection, dry mouth, epistaxis (nose bleed), sore throat, abdominal pain, diarrhea, stomatitis (inflammation in the mouth or tongue), tooth disorder, conjunctivitis (irritation and redness of the thin membrane covering the eye), and rash.
Allerta® is not recommended for people who have allergies to any of the substance of the product and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. We recommend that you consult with your doctor for you to know which kind of medicines you are allergic to.
Allerta® is an anti-allergy medicine and should be used responsibly. Loratadine, which is the generic name of Allerta®, is an ingredient that is not likely to cause drowsiness and dizziness than the older class of anti-allergy medicines.
